Consistency

by DocBill

Back in 07 when I started getting serious about fitness, I asked my trainer  "does it ever become automatic?"  What I wanted to know was if  the day would come where going to the gym just seemed "normal."  Arv, my trainer, answered "yes" (he had been working out 20 years at that point if I remember right).

Well, it is 2012 now and I guess working out is pretty automatic for me.  I have sources of inspiration I turn  to to keep me fired up:  ( http://youtu.be/gG82FnZx9dk )
I have also  resigned myself to the idea that there is a price to pay to be healthy .

What I want to share with you though is the humor I am finding  watching my ego in all of this.  There are periods where I am absolutely convinced that I am going to get to my high school weight, have ripped abs, look and be amazing.  These times are very powerful for me.  I KNOW I am going to get there.

Then, a few days, weeks or WOD's later, I run up against a failed lift, a weak workout or A MIRROR!  And bam, I get my emotional butt kicked.  I say to myself "I look THAT bad after working this hard….yada yada yada."

Well, do you know what?  I do the next workout ANYWAY.  I am starting to realize that there are going to be ups and downs like this for the rest of my life.  I just do the next workout.

Not automatic, but consistent.
